Does Pro Tools require an interface?
You don’t need an external audio interface for Pro Tools. You can use the built in audio card of your computer. however an external audio interface does have some advantages. It makes it far easier to record instruments and vocals. Audio interfaces would give you better results with recording.
Is 16gb RAM enough for Pro Tools?
16gb's of RAM is enough to run Pro Tools. However if you have the option to get more RAM this is always recommended. The more RAM you have the more processes can be ran at the same time which will increase the capabilities of Pro Tools.
Does Pro Tools 10 support AAX?
Yes, Pro Tools 10 does support AAX plugins, but only in their 32-bit format. This version of Pro Tools was a transitional one, introducing AAX while still supporting the older RTAS format. However, from Pro Tools 11 onward, Avid moved to a 64-bit architecture and ceased support for RTAS and 32-bit AAX, making 64-bit AAX the standard.
Is Pro Tools 64 bit?
It depends on which version of Pro Tools you are using. AVID has confirmed that Pro Tools 11 is a native 64-bit software, while all earlier versions of Pro Tools are 32-bit. As for Pro Tools Lite, it is available for free download, but its functionality is limited compared to the full version of Pro Tools.
