EDM

Digital Audio Workstations are the modern day version of what's now called a DAW. The first was developed in 1972 by Bill Underwood, but it took until 1988 for his company to release their product commercially. This original workstation is still available today, and can be found on eBay. It's called the Synclavier IIx. The next big leap came with the introduction of ProTools into mainstream music production in 1991, which made it much easier for people without any technical knowledge to create complex soundtracks that could then be mixed together by an engineer or producer with more experience.
