What is DJMonitor?

You might have seen this name before “DJMonitor”. What does DJMonitor mean? In this article we will explain what DJMonitor is and how DJMonitor helps maintain the authenticity of our tracks!

DJMonitor is a dutch owned company who is currently the market leader in recording, analysing and reporting music.DJMonitor is mainly used for monitoring tracks played at events. They record DJ sets and analyse the individual tracks that are played. This information is then processed in order to make sure the composers of the played tracks get their fair share of royalties when a track of theirs has been played at an event.

House of Tracks decided to partner up with DJMonitor. DjMonitor has created a service for House of Tracks to bring their top notch music finger printing to our platform! the function of DJMonitor on our platform can basically be compared to“Shazam” on steroids. The service of DJMonitor is capable of recognising the most obscure tracks, next to recognising the more famous tracks of course.

So why should you care about a service like DJMonitor being implemented on House of Tracks? As you might already be aware of, each track that is uploaded to House of Tracks is checked by our professional A&R team. They check the tracks for technicalities and for authenticity. The A&R team is trained to have a very broad knowledge of music in order to recognise whether a track is in good condition and whether they heard elements in other tracks before. As you might understand no A&R team will know every track ever produced. This is where DJMonitor comes in. Every track is analysed by DJMonitor. If an uploaded track or even a part of an uploaded track has a match with an already existing track, the A&R team will get a notification.the A&R team will check to see if the match that has been found by DJMonitor would lead to any copyright issues. If the track would lead to copyright issues, the appropriate actions are taken against the label that has uploaded the track. If the match leads to no copyright issues (as in most cases) the A&R team can safely post the track online.

This process seems like quite a job for each individual track. The fact of the matter is that it actually is quite a process. However this process gives us the opportunity to sell tracks on our platform that are fully authentic and unique, which makes this process more than worth the time.
