How do I submit my tracks?
Uploading a track to House of Tracks is more than just uploading a simple mp3 file to the platform. This article will help you to successfully upload your tracks to House of Tracks!
First off it’s important to Be familiar with our rules. On our platform we only accept fully exclusive and unique tracks. This means that any track you upload to our platform should’ve never been online or exposed before. To ensure the uniqueness of the tracks uploaded to House of Tracks, it isn’t allowed to use any full melodic samples or MIDI information from sample packs. If you want a more detailed explanation of our rules, make sure to check out our terms and conditions. These can be found here:
Now that you are aware of our rules it’s time to focus on how your tracks should be uploaded. Each track requires a total of 3 packs and a master WAV file. The three packs are:
- Master pack
- MIDI pack
- Stem pack
Master Pack
First we will discuss the master pack. The master pack should consist of a fully mastered version of your track as well as a mixdown of your track. A mixdown is created by rendering your track without your mastering chain activated. Always make sure the mixdown has enough headroom, this makes it easier for the buyer of your track to master the track as they please.
If your track uses vocals, it is also important to add a fully mastered instrumental and an instrumental mixdown to your pack. We have to be very strict when it comes to vocals. Vocal chops or even one shots are considered vocals and should be excluded from the instrumental versions. Do keep in mind that you can only use vocals from official royalty free sample packs or vocals that were recorded by yourself
MIDI Pack
Next up is the MIDI pack. This MIDI pack should contain all MIDI information of every melodic element used in the track. The every melodic element of the track should have its MIDI, meaning you can’t have all MIDI information crammed in one MIDI file. Do make sure the naming of you MIDI files correspond to the names of your stem files.
Stem Pack
Lastly you will need to fix your stem pack. Your stem pack are basically audiofiles of each individual element of your track. These audiofiles should be in WAV format at 44100KHz 24bit. The stems should come wet, this means that all effects other than the mastering chain should be activated. Together your stems should result in the mixdown of your track. The stems should also be the full length of the track.
As mentioned before, all individual elements should come in separate WAV files. However there are some exceptions. When using drums for example you don’t have to have a separate stem for every drum sound. The main kick and snare/clap should be in separate files. If you are using top loops though, you can have them in a combined stems as long as they only service to enhance your current drums.
Some producers prefer mixing with so-called “Busses” which is perfectly fine. Do make sure however that along with the busses you will still need to export all elements in separate stems files as well. The busses should be included to the stem pack though. When naming your stem files, you should make sure the names of the stems are referring to sound within the stem files.Make the names as clear and simple as possible for instance: Kick, Clap 1, Clap 2, Vocals etc. Don’t add names of the sample packs or VSTs used to create the stem.
Upload Phase
Now that you have created all of your packs, it’s time to start uploading! Go to houseoftracks.com and make sure to log into your account. Navigate to “My Tracks” and click on “Upload Track”. First you will need to upload your full master files. In case you are using vocals, make sure you upload the mastered vocal version. After that you will find the locations where you can upload your individual packs. Do make sure that you upload each pack to the correct place. Failing to do so will create issues in our system which leads to delays in the checking of your uploaded track. Once the packs start uploading it’s a good idea to fill out the rest of the information. Do take this part serious, the better you fill out this information the better a buyer is able to find your track. There is a part where we ask wether the track uses vocals. If you select that the track uses vocals from a royalty free sample pack, it’s important to give the name of the pack as well as the exact URL where the pack can be found.
Now that you have successfully uploaded your track it’s time to let the platform do the rest of the work. Every track is checked manually by our talented A&R team. They will check if the track applies to all requirements. Additionally the we use a very advanced finger printing system called DJmonitor which will help determining the authenticity of each track.Whenever the A&R team finds something that needs fixing, they will send an email with the details that need to be fixed in order for your track to appear online. This process obviously takes a bit of time, if you want to know more about how long it takes for your track to appear online, check out this link:
